director guy asked: This is so humiliating. My wife and I are wiring some Christmas lights outside and our floodlights are screwed into a base that is motion-sensored. NORMALLY, for home protection and security, I like motion-sensored lighting, but the problem is: I don’t have an outlet outside to plug in my Christmas lights, so what I am doing is removing my flood lights for the next few weeks during the holidays and screwing an outlet right into the base. That way, I can plug my Christmas lights into that outlet.
Now typically, like I said, the motion sensor is a good thing, but it will be completely lame if my Christmas lights get affected by this. The base is installed to the side of the house, and there is no switch on it that shuts the “motion-sensor” off. All there is is a switch that is labeled “Test,” “1,” “5,” and “10.” TEST mode leaves the lights on all night, but they’re motion-sensored. And the numbers leave the lights on WITHOUT the motion sensor, but they indicate how long the lights stay on for. The bottom line is: I don’t want to turn the switch to “10,” and then have to keep turning my lights on every 10 minutes. There is also a “min/max” dial that controls how far the motion picks up.
But I see no switch anywhere that de-activates the motion-sensor and leaves the lights on permanantly. Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?
P.S.-I am fully aware of the fact that there is a manufacturer’s name on it. I have already tried to contact them, but they are an affiliate company and I can’t figure out who to talk to and don’t want to spend all morning getting routed around. Also, don’t give me some snide remarks about looking through the owner’s manual as I didn’t install the stupid thing. My landlord did, and for all I know, he could have installed the damn thing 10 years ago, 20 tenants back!
Also, I am a little humiliated that I can’t figure out this dumb product, so please answer intelligently or don’t answer at all. If you are someone that wants to give me crap, then don’t waste my time by answering with rudeness. Thank you.
